Halicarnassos

The day before the end of the old year and your humble blogger is in the small egean peninsula of Bodrum.

The rain of yesterday is gone and with a sun that is shining ever so bright there seems to be no obstacles in the way of a good old fashioned nature walk.

the Mausoleum there is no trace of it in the horizon but the ancient feeling is still dominating these hills.

iı ıs so much more than a summer destination. Bodrum is a hot spot of millenial energy.

Concept of Time

We, as human beings, are a species of time. Perhaps because our lives our comparatively longer than other life forms that surround us, we are more aware of it’s passage, and for millenia we have been obsessed over countless ways in which to measure and keep track of time. The passage of years is one of the many occasions that we consider important, one year leaves it’s place to a brand new one, never to come back.

I will continue developing this topic in the new year to come, although we all know since Einstein that it’s all relative.

Essay on Consciousness

Consciousness is the awareness of existence.

C is memorable U is not. (where C is consciousness and U is unconsciousness)

Humans can understand human consciousness

Humans aren’t always conscious.

Consciousness requires engaging one’s self in reality and focusing one’s attention.

The most basic formula of Consciousness is:

Ws=C

Where Ws is waking state and C is consciousness

So consciousness is possible only in an active mode of human existence.

Therefore if we presume that Ws=C than Ss=U

Where Ss stands for sleeping state and U is unconsciousness

So consciousness is impossible while sleeping/passive mode of human existence.

Therefore Ws>Ss from an existential point of view

One can experience more in Ww than in Sw where w stands for world

If Ws>Ss than C>U consciousness has more value than unconsciousness

If C=T+P+A where T is for time P is for place and A is for awareness

Than Ws=T+P+A also! Then what differentiates Ws from C?

The fact that C is unnecessary to survive in the Ww

Just like U is unnecessary to survive in the Sw

C & U just happen, they are not necessary for existence, they are states of existence.

If Wsis unequal to C than Ws –> C ( Waking state tends towards or gives possibility to Consciousness)

Than C= Ws+ x  where x is unknown

Ws possibility of C

Ss impossibility of C

Therefore being awake is absolutely necessary for the possibility of C

C= infinite C has infinite levels and states

Ww is physical C is not

C requires Ws of existence and something else

x is a variable     C can be created through various stimuli

Visual, emotional, mental, physical, biological and social stimuli create C if an observer is in Ws

If Ws & Ss are fundamental to understand C

At inception Ci=0

Where Ci is Consciousness of individual

At death C=0

Waking up is C, breathing is U so  in Ws breathing is an U action

Going to sleep is C , breathing is U so in  Ss breathing is also an U action

So breathing is an U activity except in meditation where it becomes C.

So the human mind possesses the ability to transform an U action or U state into a C action or C state

Attention must be focused on awareness of the action or state one wants to be aware of.

Consciousness is directly related to awareness and determination.

Being conscious depends on being aware and determined.

Wolves

In Central Asian and American mythologies wolves hold an important place in the collective unconsciousness.

In Turkic mythology man is supposed to be descended from wolves.

The famous founders of Rome are said to be nurtured by a she-wolf.

What are the concrete bases of these myths? What exactly is the relationship between wolves and men?

Purposelessness

To live is to have a purpose. Without a purpose we are nothing more than empty shells.

Adventure is what we seek in life, but an adventure without a purpose is meaningless.

The purpose of our own adventure is not known to us from the very beginning, sometimes we discover the meaning of our quest at the very end of it.

Mentors are needed for this exact reason, they show us the way and give us the push needed to go forward in our journey.

NAZIM HIKMET

It is my duty to explain the name of my blog.

Scenes from Humanity is directly inspired from the Turkish communist poet NAZIM HIKMET.

More precisely from his famous poetry book “Memleketimden İnsan Manzaraları”.

I will try, from time to time, to quote his poems and rimes.

The main idea of the blog is similar to his mission in publishing his poems.

To inform people of the human situation around the world in this day and age.

To explain scenes that are mostly disregarded or quickly forgotten in our everyday lives.

To protest in opposition to the acceptance and normalization of human misery.

To express free opinion in artistic form so that brotherhood and solidarity progress among earthlings without the imposed artificial divisions of color, nationality, race, religion and sex.

Union makes strong, divided we are weak. People of the world Unite!

Scenes from Humanity

2010 is about to end, but it seems that there is no end to human misery.

Forget about human bombs and guns killing guns, just yesterday I saw it for myself.

A man walking down the same street as I was, just in the other direction.

“Brother!” he called as we crossed paths.

“Yes?” I replied

“Do you have a lira for the love of God?”

I turned and walked away.

What misery may cause a man to descend to such a position, have thou no honor brother? have thou no sens of dignity? or is your experience of the human existence is so different than mine so that I can’t grasp your state of mind?

so I ponder about yours, as you won’t ponder upon mine, just another scene of humanity from the country where I was born.
